The flapper dress was the epitome of the 1920's - perfect
for dancing the Charleston and ideal for setting off the new
short hairstyles that were all the rage.
The 1920's were also famous for art deco, jazz, films stars
like Greta Garbo, Charlie Chaplin, singers and
musicians like Irving Berlin & Cole Porter, temperance in
the US, the continuation of the suffragette movement and
presidents such as Coolidge, Hoover and Wilson.
The era famously ended with the stock market crash of
1929.
Here's a cool video about the fringed fashions of the
roaring twenties:-
It's increasingly popular to re-create these vintage looks
for parties and fancy dress occasions.
A simple shift dress with shoestring straps with a little
fringing added at the hem.
Combine with headband and a wildly colorful feather, team
with a feather boa and big dangling necklaces to simply create
a twenties style look.
Hairstyles were short and straight, though towards the end
of the decade tight curls around the fringe area were
popular.
This was the era that Art Deco was fashionable, so add
a brooch, watch or necklace to your outfit that is themed from
this period.
