First Communion - dresses for your
daughter
Every mom wants her little girl to look
radiant on her first holy communion.
What style of dress or gown you have will depend on the
tradition within your family and your church.
More modern styles have simple lines, with sleeveless
dresses that can be dyed another color and worn for a party or
other special occasion.
For a traditional, very formal
ceremony, gowns may be more ornate, with beading and
embroidery, this may be appropriate for high church or
catholic ceremonies. These sorts of
styles can easily become family heirlooms, being
handed down from one generation to the next.
If you're on a budget, you can either have your daughter
wearing vintage - perhaps a dress that's been in the family for
years, or sew something simple from a sewing pattern.
Shop at a discount by buying in the sales in the months before
the ceremony, or check eBay for a real bargain.
With a few simple adjustments, bows or additions, these
could easily become a Cinderella or snow white style dress
for the dressing up box!
Simple accessories, such as white ballet shoes
or formal
shoes, teamed with a pretty sash and some hair pins, bows
or clips, will complete the right look for her 1st
communion.
Don't forget to take plenty of photos, the next time you'll
see your daughter in a white dress will probably be her wedding
day !
