Belle of the Ball in Blue Dresses

Blue can look stunning - and there's so many shades to choose from .

This simple blue satin gown is ideal for a formal or prom, even for your bridesmaids dresses

Even Cinderella wore a blue dress to her ball, or so the story goes. There must be a reason that blue was chosen for her gown, perhaps because it is pretty and youthful, whilst still being sophisticated.

No matter, this color is gorgeous on all sorts of different people, as it comes in so many different shades.

Shades of Blue

Dresses can come in aqua, teal, royal or baby blue, but there are some that will look better on some skin tones than others.

For example, if you have very pale skin you should choose blues with a little bit of green in them, or richer fabrics. If you have richer skin tones, then pale, light blue and royal blue may look far more stunning on you.

Special Occasion Dresses

Blue is suitable for all sorts of occasions, be that for prom, a wedding or for an evening party. This blue prom dress is stylish but without being one of those big poofy prom dresses that are so very girly

Make sure that when choosing the dress it fits perfectly, and is not too big or too small for you, as this is unflattering.

Even if you love the dress a lot, it is still not the perfect dress if it doesn’t fit you.

If you'd prefer not to have too much skin showing , avoid those backless styles.  For modest prom dresses that still have style - wearing something cut across the shoulders like this pretty sparkling style - would be perfect.

Add a simple wrap to cover your shoulders for warmth if needed.

Navy gowns are perfect for cocktail parties, and formal evenings out. They are also a good day-to-night dress colour; by slipping on some heels and sparkly earrings with it it can easily transform from office to party wear.

Blue is a great colour for bridesmaids to wear at a wedding, and can be beautifully complimentary to a white wedding dress. It can give the wedding a very clean, crisp atmosphere, by having these colors.

Picking shoes and accessories to go with a particular blue dress you have bought can be tricky. So, it has been suggested that you choose accessories in a different color, for example, silver.

This will ensure that your ‘look’ appears very stylish. Try to avoid red, yellow or orange accessories, as this may make you look a bit less chic, and a bit more like a national flag.

Whatever shade & style you choose - accessorizing completes your outfit and makes you feel like a true princess !
