Ballgowns and Ballroom Dresses

Every girl was read some sort of fairy story, in which the princess dances at her ball with her prince, in a fabulous ball gown.  

Keeping the look pretty, feminine and fun whilst being chic might seem a little impossible.

Ball room gowns can be a little too eighties, but with a little customisation they can be really on-trend. 

Try and be individual with your choice of gown, as you will look more confident in a dress you actually like, and therefore look more beautiful.

Black prom style dresses or pink wedding dresses are not appropriate for a ball, so try and go for something a little more exciting. How about a red backless formal dress, or a deep purple, satin Victorian cut, sleeveless dress. 

In order to glide perfectly around the ballroom, you will need to make sure you have the perfect shoes. There ought to be no excuse not to dance, and painful feet would be the worst.

But don’t go to extremes and buy ballet shoes, rather buy and wear some shoes that fit, or have adjustable straps.

Also think about investing in a pair of Party Feet insoles, as these will reduce the pain in your soles. 

For plus size women, choose fitted styles that smooth out your figure. For petites, choose dresses in one colour, which will make you appear taller.  

Steer clear of puffball styles, military fits, and anything white. You can easily avoid looking bridal or like a ballerina, by making sure you start shopping for your event several months in advance.

The Perfect Dress

It can take time to find the perfect dress. Also, do check out vintage stores, as there might be some civil war or nineteenth century garment you can adjust to be the most stunning ball gown.

The best styles to wear to a ball are floor length, fitted bodice, thick straps or halter necks. Detailing is very important with ball dresses, as there needs to be some extravagance for such a special occasion.

So, some crystals or diamante patterns would look stunning somewhere on the dress. If there aren’t any on your dress, then why not pop some in your hair, by creating a stunning updo ?

Always make sure that you polish off your look by doing your make-up perfectly, and adding a spritz of perfume.
