80's Vintage Dress Styles
The dresses & fashions from the 1980's are striking and memorable.
And the eighties look is making a comeback for 2009-2010 winter season, with this retro look again being
the height of fashion.
The power dressing look with big shoulders & tailored jackets were seen recently on the
catwalks of top designers - inspiring their collections for spring 2010 and beyond.
Eighties Fashions
Influences on 80's fashion & clothing include people like Joan Collins, TV soaps such as Dallas &
Dynasty.
Princess Diana made her contribution with smart suits and simple shift dresses, beautifully
accessorised.
Shoulder pads even went as far as evening wear, with pads added to gold jackets for a formal
evening look.
Hair was born big and bouffant - with plenty of gel , long hair and gentle curls or feathered hair being
the order of the day.
Dresses were simple shift style or for a bit of fun, batwing sleeves. Colors were strong and confident,
with pinks and primary colors often worn.
Madonna was also a style icon at this time, with new ideas and epitomising the outrageous styles,
including the basque, that could now be worn. Tina Turner also wore simple styles, often suitable for petite women.
